'Anonymous' group claims networking site passes on information'Facebook knows more about you than your family,' it says
Hackers launch operation in video uploaded to YouTube
The group of hackers known as Anonymous has vowed to 'destroy' Facebook on November 5, the night which commemorates Guy Fawkes and the Gunpowder Plot.
The 'hacktivists', infamous for meddling with the American government and for their support for WikiLeaks, have announced that they will focus on bringing down the social networking site because of its privacy policy.
Facebook was started in 2004 and has more than 750 million users worldwide. Its 27-year-old CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, is thought to be worth £8.3 billion ($13.5 billion) according to Forbes. And while its popularity appears to be increasing, many questions remain over privacy issues - there are fears that the information uploaded by users will be passed on to other sources
Last month the group created a Twitter account and uploaded a YouTube video to highlight its intentions - and has urged those willing to rise up against Facebook to join it.
The chilling video, a two-minute warning and explanation using a computerised voice, begins: 'Attention citizens of the world ... Your medium of communication you all so dearly adore will be destroyed.
'If you are a willing hacktivist or a guy who just wants to protect the freedom of information then join the cause and kill Facebook for the sake of your own privacy.
'Facebook has been selling information to government agencies and giving clandestine access to information security firms so that they can spy on people from all around the world.'
New video footage from filming of The Dark Knight Rises has emerged on the internet.
The clip, which was captured by Pittsburgh television station WPXI and later posted on YouTube, shows a brawl between Christian Bale's Batman and new villain Bane, played by Tom Hardy. The two actors are surrounded by inmates from Arkham Asylum and the Gotham City Police.
The new mode will feature up to two players fighting level after level of increasingly difficult enemies. Unlike other video games where enemies spawn at fixed locations, the enemies in this mode will spawn around the player so that they can approach the player from a tactically advantageous location. As players fight off enemies, they will be earning cash. More cash is earned for scoring headshots, having high accuracy and taking less damage overall. For each kill, they can use their money to purchase items such as new weapons, upgrades and ammo. Another example to earn more cash is by consecutively killing enemies quickly
